Fun Times

Memaw and Papaw were up here visiting us this past week. Well, I say "us," but for all intents and purposes, everyone knows they really just wanted to see their grandchildren. The weather was just perfect. We did some fun things while they were here. My mom, Isaac, and I went to Michael's. We also had Rick's parents and the Driscoll's over. We went to the Children's Discovery Museum in Acton, Kimball Farms for ice cream, up to Maine to see my cousin and for more ice cream, and played a new game called Puerto Rico (thanks Thorson family). Isaac just loves his Papaw and hardly let him out of his site. I liked having my parents at my house because I didn't have to pack five million bags each day. Here are some photos of our week.

When the Driscoll's were over, Isaac handed out instruments to everyone and he was the conductor. It was so funny. I even took a video of the concert.

I like this picture of my mom and step-dad.

This is my cousin Sarah and I. I am so glad to finally have family in the area. (Plus, we can compare notes about the oddities of New England life.)

Photo Class

Here are some photo since I've started my photograpy class in random order. (Is "random order" an oxymoron?). I've learned alot already and am still trying to connect everything together. This week's assignment was still life and I actually found it very challenging. I think my kids are much better subjects.

I love the shadow in this next picture.

This is my favorite still life. I laid down all the colors of Isaac's sidewalk chalk on the driveway and laid down in front of it. The neighbors must have thought I was crazy. (They are probably right).

This next one is Rick's favorite.

This is a picture of the "Mr. Gump's Seven Hump Wump" from Red Fish Blue Fish fame. Our wump was named, "Dave" after Uncle Dave.

Life

So I convinced myself this morning to go to the pilates class during lunch. I went consistently before Christmas and now there is a new teacher. I'm not a huge fan of the new one, but I know it is good for me. The class finishes and we all go back to the bathroom/lockerroom to change. I overhear this converstion (between two recent college grads who look like bean poles) about a co-worker who just returned from maternity leave a month ago, "Oh, she like just got back from maternity leave. " "Oh really?" "Yeah, that was her second kid!" "Man, you have to really work hard after having kids. That's why I'm never having kids." And, mind you, the co-worker looks fabulous. I just wanted to bust in and shout, "Your life doesn't end because you have kids!!! Life isn't always about you!!" Oh well.

I started a digital photography class night. It was good to do something that isn't work or church related. We learned about aperature or f-stop, ISO settings, shutter speed, and histograms. I have a lot of homework to get to know my (I mean, our) camera. The instructor said that we'll never use the "Auto" function again! HA! And, get this, Pappy, we have use the viewfinder eyepiece and not the screen. I hope to post some of my pictures on here. For next week, we have to bring in five good pictures that we took with our camera and five bad ones, a tripod, a backdrop, and something still life, and a thumb drive. Yikes!
