So Am I Resolved or What??

We got another 8-9" of snow last weekend. This storm was predicted to be only 1-3." Wish I could have a job where I could be wrong and still get paid!! Anyway... here are some pictures and a video of us enjoying the snow.

Rick stuck Isabella on the car while Isaac and I went sledding.

This next picture is after Rick and Isaac sledded down from the top of our backyard. I was politely told by my son that is only for boys. HA! Anyway, when they reached the bottom, Isaac's face was covered with snow. He was ready to come in for a cup of hot chocolate after that.

On Being Resolved

When I first moved to New England, I had no idea how much snow one place could get nor how long snow and the cold can last. That first winter I was here was really rough. There were a few days in early March that it got kinda warm so I started pulling out my summer clothes in anticipation wearing them soon. Much to my shagrin, my honest husband told me to put them away because it was going to be a while before it got warm again. Oh, my heart was broken. And, he was right. I believe it was late May before I could confidently go out with a jacket on.

Each winter, I have to come to grips that it's gonna get cold and stay cold for awhile. And that I probably won't see the grass for a few months. I don't necessarily like it (believe me, I'll take warm weather any day), but it is where I am. And I have to make a choice in my life. I can put on my grumpy face and angry eyes or I can put on my snow boots and smile.

There are plenty of things I don't like about the snow- driving in it, being cold, having no where to put it so it makes my street one lane, etc. But, there are things I do like about the snowy weather- it slows life down, making a fire and watching the snow fall, seeing Isaac playing in it, how it brings people together.

Rick and I have decided to be resolved this year. So, I am resolved to enjoy my winter despite what the thermometer reads.

Merry Christmas (again) and Happy New Year!

We celebrated Christmas a few times this year. After we got home from Texas, Isaac and Isabella opened some gifts that Rick and I bought them.

Then for New Year's Day, we went to Rick's parents house where we exchanged gifts with his family. It was so much fun. We made brunch and dinner and played games and I even got a small nap in. Here are some pictures.

And the last gift came today for Isaac...

I know, call us crazy. But he loves them. He said, "A drum set! That's what I ordered!" Anyway, he is so cute with them and I'm even going to share my craft room with him so now it'll be a "Fine Arts" room. HA! And, thanks, Eric for putting them together.

Best wishes to all my friends for a terrific 2009!
